The Man with the message..

A man embarked on an extraordinary journey, to bring to the light the less understood ancient art of healing, spirituality and divine life i.e. yoga. Michael O’Neil, the famous Hollywood photographer and an author, has been a spiritual ranger for a long time. From the banks of the holy Ganges to the glamour of Beverly Hills, from living saints to Hollywood celebs, O’Neil’s quest to capture the essence of Yoga spans time, space, and people as he sets out to immortalise in his camera a life transforming journey ultimately leading to some great revelations.

Capturing some of the most influential yogis of our time such as B K S Iyengar, K Pattabhi Jois and Gurumukh Kaur Khalsa to meditation masters like His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and S N Goenka. Also capturing the time freezing frames of some high profile people such as Christy Turlington, Sting and Trudie Styler well known to have integrated yoga in their lives, Michael’s new book On Yoga: The Architecture of Peace is a creation worth treasuring. Having visited India for some 20 odd times, nine of his visits were solely dedicated to forge his experience and journey of pain to healing to light into a beautiful book. Upon asking, he replies with a smile and says: “All I wanted to do was to pay homage to yoga’s classical lineage and understand this unique moment before it slips away”. Facing an unfortunate incident in the year 2000 after his spinal surgery paralysed his right arm. Yoga, as he says, helped him cope with his pain and heal over time. Since then, O’Neil has been identifying himself with this peaceful and powerful knowledge.

The golden famous photographer of the rich and famous, Michael O’Neil has been practicing kundalini and yoga with devotion ever since. Now a yoga instructor in his own right, he talks about the powerful relevance of yoga in today’s age in his new book. ‘‘there is no modern yoga, there is just yoga in modern times’’.  Two of the O’Neil’s most important subjects, meditation master His Holiness Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji and Ashtanga guru Eddie Stern, join the conversation with their essays on the role of yoga in contemporary culture and the healing power of what Michael O’Neil calls ‘‘the architecture of peace... a series of postures that bring the practitioner closer to touching the infinite.’’

The success of O’Neil’s personal spiritual journey which he has documented in this incredible book is evident from how well received his first show at Los Angeles was as from 7 November- 7 January 7 2016. His work has received great comments and reviews from prominent souls like Donna Karan and new age guru Dr. Deepak Chopra. Surely, from his own eyes, and through his own form of expression, reading Michael’s wonderful journey would be the food for a healthy soul.
