The city just got Shrilectri-fied

Music means different things to different people. For ShriLectric, aka, Shrikant Shriram, who ihas embarked on a four city tour in four days, music is all about an experience. 'It is about creating an experience both from within me and my audience,' he says.

The tour — as a part of which the musician performed on Thursday at QBA in Chanakyapuri — promises to bring alive that connect of live music which he draws inspiration from living his life, his travels and his personal experiences. 'It is not just about about looping and layering of instruments but it is also about creating the music and transgressing it at the same time,' says Shriram.

'Recreating music through the sound , beats and base is the main idea behind his tour,' Shriram says. 'I am looking for a new experience and want to reach out to newer and wider audience,' he explains about his India tour.

One more reason why one shouldn't miss this tour is because he will be collaborating with Susmit Sen from the Indian Ocean and also Gayatri Iyer and Finix Ramdass. Shriram said that he had collaborated with a lot of artists earlier too and on several occasions had backed up the whole music. 'I love to play a variety of musical instruments rather than just playing a particular set,' he says.

For those wondering about who he is, Shrikanth Shriram, is a break beat pop performer from Mumbai and London. Shriram is a bassist inspired by Led Zeppelin and German bass icon Eberhard Weber. His music combines drum and bass and electronica with Indian ragas and jazz.

He loves experimenting with different instruments like acoustic, electric, electronic and computing in live performance. Each experience would be inscribed in the music he makes and also that continues to inspire him in ways so that the creation of music goes on.

Creating music live on stage, Shriram will be touring four cities — Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Pune. What is interesting about this line up is that he had never earlier performed in these cities. 'Delhi is not new to me but it is for the first time it will be on such a set up,' claims Shriram.

While Delhi enjoyed his antics and musical prowess, Shriram is now looking forward to the reactions in the rest of the country.
