Tainted govt official’s extension questioned

Despite the tenure of MK Singh, director (Project Management) also holding additional charge of acting chairman and managing director of Bridge and Roof Co. (India) Ltd, coming to an end, he continues to hold office.

Indian National Trade Union Congress has written to prime minister Manmohan Singh questioning the continuance of Singh as CMD of Bridge & Roof Co, under ministry of heavy industries and public enterprise. MK Singh’s tenure ended on 10 April.

INTUC secretary general Qamruzzaman Qamar in the letter to the prime minister raised the issue of Singh’s tenure extension. The letter mentioned that MK Singh ‘is still running his office from the CMD’s chamber with name plate with designation of CMD outside his cabin... He is writing official correspondences to clients like National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP) as the CMD of this company.’ The letter also stated that MK Singh has ‘approved his personal legal invoices from company’s account on 19.04.2014 where he is accused in a criminal charge (sexual harassment case).’
