The news came a day after the buzz of an alleged affair on social media shook their marriage.
On Thursday, the couple came out with a joint statement saying all is well in the marriage. But the lady in question, Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar, slammed Mrs Tharoor on Twitter.
Shashi Tharoor on Thursday issued a joint statement along with his wife Sunanda in which the duo stated that they were ‘happily married’, but distressed by ‘some unauthorised tweets.’
Alleged rumours of Mehr having an affair with Shashi broke out on Twitter on Wednesday, but the bitter cat fight between the two ladies intensified on Thursday, as the former Daily Times editor took on Mrs Tharoor on Twitter : ‘For a woman to trash another woman linking her with her husband is the lowest form of sickness ever. It’s nauseous. No respect for her marriage.’
Shashi avoided the media and chose to skip an event in the capital where he was the chief guest citing the reason that he ‘suddenly’ fell ill.
