Jaya, Rekha silsila continues off air

A Press Trust of India report claimed on Wednesday that the Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan sent a complaint to the upper house chairperson and vice president Hamid Ansari about the Rajya Sabha TV airing her visuals when the film actor Rekha took oath on Tuesday.

Things had got interesting after the glamorous actress Rekha made her debut in Parliament on Tuesday, as her rival Jaya Bachchan, seated in her new seat, was seen viewing Rekha's dramatic entry. Their animosity seemed to have come out in the open.

After Rekha was warmly welcomed by the parliamentarians, who were clearly awestruck by her beauty, the diva also managed to indirectly agitate her long-time rival Jaya Bachchan through her presence in the House. At least the TV visuals thus suggested. However, late on Wednesday, a release from the Rajya Sabha secretariat denied that Bachchan filed any such complaint.

Received by MPs thumping their tables, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Rekha entered the house clad in a golden-brown saree. These visuals were juxtaposed with Bachchan's placid face, as she saw Rekha stepping down and taking oath. Soon after this, the Jaya and Rekha footage went viral in the media and the Internet. The visuals of Bachchan's stoic expression was in fact seen as the high-point of Rekha's glitzy entry.

According to earlier reports, Bachchan had told Ansari that she was hurt by the Rajya Sabha TV footage and the coverage of the oath-taking ceremony by news channels.
