Govt will review food subsidy post June: Ram Vilas Paswan

He explained: “All the state governments in the country should implement the Food Security Act. If followed, the effects will be reflected across the entire nation. Most of the states have said that they will do so by the month of June and we will assess the situation thereafter. Currently, we do not plan to introduce any changes in food subsidy.”

Asked if he plans to revamp the Food Corporation of India (FCI) keeping in mind the issue regarding wastage of food, the minister said: “There isn’t really so much wastage, as is being said. The High Level Committee report has said that the use of silos should be maximised. In actuality, when food grains leave the farm, not much of the amount is sifted.”
