Fusion all the way

Coke Studio@mtv Season II, premiered in the city recently. The team travelled to the capital for a sneak peek into what is to be expected this year. It was music all the way with performers from all over India bringing together an array of fusion music. There were performances by music producers Amit Trivedi, Ehsaan Noorani, Karsh Kale, Hitesh Sonik, Clinton Cerejo and Shantanu Moitra.

Every musician captured certain aspects of their own connection of music. Through their music, they travelled through Carnatic music and went up north for traditional Punjabi folk. There were also tunes from the land of Assam.

Trivedi sang Husna, a song about a woman who suffered during the partition of India. Drenched in pain and desolation, it ended on a note of chaos.

'The state where I am is because of my music and the idea of living a life of not hurting others is what music has shaped me into,' said Trivedi.

For musician Karsh Kale, it was all about finding one's identity in the world. He locates his music in this context.

Artists performing this year includes names like Usha Uthup, Jalebee Cartel, La Pongal, Swanand Kirkire, Master Saleem, Shankar Tucker, Shilpa Rao and Papon.

The night ended with Apeksha Dandekar, the sister of VJ Anushka, who sang with Karsh Kale.

Coke Studio is all set to take off and we can’t wait!
