Zidane intensifies workload in Real ’s training session

Real Madrid footballers on Wednesday underwent their second training session of the week under French coach Zinedine Zidane, who was appointed earlier this week after the club fired Rafael Benitez.

The training focused on possession and attacking transitions.

Zidane increased the workload of the team’s workouts, amid preparations for Saturday’s La Liga clash against Deportivo La Coruna at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

Real Madrid’s official website noted that Welsh forward Gareth Bale participated in the session along with his peers, while defender Sergio Ramos trained indoors.

Real Madrid’s junior team players; Marcos Llorente, Borja Mayoral and Martin Odegaard, were included by Zidane in the training session.

“This was followed by various drills working on possession and attacking transitions. The work-out - which lasted nearly an hour and a half - was concluded with strength and intensity-enhancing exercises,” the club wrote on its website.

Real are currently third in the league’s standings with 37 points, two points behind FC Barcelona, who have played a game less, and four points behind leaders Atletico Madrid.
