Youth stabs woman, attempts suicide

The police arrested a youth who had stabbed a woman and then tried to commit suicide at Mukunda Palli in Haridevpur police station area on Tuesday morning.

The police arrested the youth and the injured woman was admitted to a hospital in critical condition.

The police said the Janas, namely husband Amalendu and wife Lakshmi was staying in a rented accommodation in Mukunda Palli for the past two months.

On Tuesday morning Amalendu set out for work and returned home after his work ended early.

Coming back he heard his wife Lakshmi quarrelling with Bablu Pradhan, a local youth in their bed room. On opening the door he saw Pradhan trying to stab Lakshmi. He raised an alarm but by then Pradhan had stabbed her repeatedly on her abdomen. Lakshmi fell on the ground bleeding profusely and became unconscious.

Pradhan also tried to stab Amalendu who received minor injuries. Pradhan then, tried to commit suicide. Local people informed police. All of them were taken to hospital where Lakshmi was admitted in a critical condition. Pradhan and Amalendu were also admitted.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Lakshmi had an affair with Pradhan which Amalendu did not know. Local people told the police that they had seen Pradhan visiting their flat after Amalendu had gone for work. But they did not say anything as they thought that Pradhan was their family friend.

On Tuesday they heard Lakshmi quarrelling with Pradhan in a loud voice. But before they came to the house, they saw Amalendu approaching. The police said they would interrogate Lakshmi once 

she was out of danger. Pradhan has been arrested and his condition is stated to be stable.

The police said Amalendu’s condition has also improved. The police registered a case.
