Youth stabbed to death over trivial fight in Ashok Vihar, 1 arrested

A 23-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed by a group of seven men over a trivial issue while they were drinking near the youth’s house in Wazirpur area in Northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. According to the senior police officers of the North-west district, the youth identified as Sunil Donga later succumbed to injuries on Wednesday afternoon in a government hospital. Meanwhile, police said that they have arrested one of the accused, identified as Neeraj.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 1 am when Sunil was sitting near his house in Sukhdev Nagar area in Wazirpur and entered a heated argument with Neeraj and the others. The argument took an ugly turn when Neeraj allegedly took out a knife and started stabbing Sunil.

“When Sunil fell unconscious on the spot, the accused fled from the scene. A passer-by saw Sunil lying in a pool of blood and made the PCR call. Local police reached the spot and rushed Sunil to LNJP hospital where he died during treatment on Wednesday,” said a senior police official.

Police said that based on the statement of Sunil’s brother, a case was registered at the Ashok Vihar police station. Initially the case was registered under Section 307 (attempt to murder) but later the section was converted to IPC section 302 against Neeraj, who was arrested from his house in Sukhdev Nagar. Police further said that they have formed teams to nab the remaining accused who are still absconding.
