Youth shot at by miscreants in South 24-Parganas

A youth was shot at by some miscreants when he tried to stop them while running away after snatching valuables and cash from a businessman. The incident took place at Adda More at Joynagar in South 24-Parganas on Thursday night, police said.   

Police have arrested two persons in this connection while two others accused have managed to flee. 

Police said the miscreants stopped a businessman Dudhkumar Sarkar on Jamtala-Joynagar Road while he was returning home on Thursday night on his motorbike. The accused beat up the businessman and snatched away a bag containing cash and valuables.

Local people rushed to the spot hearing the businessman’s cry for help. They chased the miscreants. In a bid to run away, the miscreants hurled bombs and opened fire. 

The youth Abdullah Mollah stopped two of the accused after chasing for around 1 km. The accused hit him with the butt of a pistol and beat him up. Mollah dared to continue fighting with them despite being shot on his leg.
