Youth killed after CPI(M) worker’s son-in-law performed ‘black magic’ on him

A tribal youth was killed after the son-in-law of CPI(M)’s former local committee secretary at Barabazar in Purulia performed black magic on the victim.

Police said the victim Kalipada Hembram had been suffering from trouble in stomach for the past few days. He had taken medicine, but he was taking some time to recover.

As a result he became impatient and went to the accused Kalipada Singh, who performs black magic.

The victim followed the accused instruction and it resulted to his death. The victim’s family members gheraoed the accused soon after they came to know about the youth’s death.

The police reached the spot and took the accused with them.

Interestingly, the accused used to perform black magic in a community hall of the erstwhile state government.

Local people claimed that during the Left Front regime the accused’s father-in-law Sukhdeb Singh Sardar had a stronghold in the area and he had taken initiative to build the community hall and had donated the plot on which the community hall had come up.

Being a CPI(M) leader, Sukhdeb had no faith in such black magic and used to fight against such practices.

But with the change of power in the state, Sukhdeb had allegedly helped his son-in-law to use the community hall to perform black magic.

Local people demanded immediate arrest of the accused and proper probe into the incident.

They protested against the use of the community hall for black magic.
