Youth held from Mumbai for murder of elderly lady in Lake Town

A 29-year-old youth Kiran Thakur was arrested from Janakalyannagar at Charkop in Mumbai on Tuesday in connection with the murder of an elderly woman from Sukantanagar in Bidhannagar. He has been remanded in transit remand after being produced before the Goriwali Court in Mumbai on Tuesday. He has been brought to the city and will be produced before Bidhannagar Court on Friday.

The arrested youth is a daily wage labourer. Police suspect that he was hired as a mason to work on the flat ahead of the incident and upon finding the lady alone, he murdered her with a motive to steal precious things from the house.

An elderly woman had been found murdered in her apartment in Salt Lake’s F-block on September 13.

The relatives suspected sexual assault as there were injury marks on her private parts  and other areas of her body. Also, she was found with a towel tied around her neck while her blouse was torn and her petticoat pulled up to her lower abdomen.
