Youth held for raping, murdering woman

A housewife from Malda was allegedly raped and murdered by a youth. Police have arrested the accused. In a separate incident, another youth allegedly raped a minor girl in Howrah’s Uluberia area.

Police said that a 32-year-old housewife from the Chachal area in Malda was allegedly raped inside her in-laws house when her husband was away from home.

The accused, Sushil Ghosh entered into the house and allegedly raped the woman. As the victim had said that she would inform the matter to police, the accused hatched a plan to kill her.

The victim woman was married to Sadhu Ghosh of Gopalpur village in Malda who is deaf and dumb since birth. The accused was trying to take an advantage of this. He tried to establish a relationship with the woman.

As she refused to enter into any illicit relationship, the accused attempted rape on the day her husband was away from home.

The next morning after the incident the woman was going somewhere near her house, the accused pounced on her and throttled her to death.

The local people later found the body and informed the matter to the police. On the basis of the investigation police have arrested the accused.

In another incident that took place in Uluberia, a minor girl was allegedly raped by a local youth. Police said that the accused raped her repeatedly with a promise of marrying her. But he later refused to marry the girl who is a minor. 

The accused also promised to give the victim’s family money to settle the issue. On the basis of the complaint police have arrested the accused.
