Youth found with throat slit in Barasat

Mystery shrouds the death of an unidentified youth whose body was found at Dakshin Barasat area of Jaynagar with his throat slit. The incident created panic among the villagers who spotted the body in a hyacinth bush on Tuesday morning.

After being informed, police rushed the spot and recovered the dead body. Police said that the local residents found the body lying in a hyacinth bush at Monoshatola area of Jaynagar. Police are yet to ascertain the identity of the victim but they suspect that he could be aged between 30-35. According to the preliminary investigation police suspect that the murder was committed in some other place and the accused later dumped the body in that area. After examining a tattoo that was written in Hindi on his body, police suspect that the victim might have been a Hindi speaking person. Police said that the victim had deep injury marks on his throat that make the investigating officers believe that he was slashed on his throat by some sharp weapon.

The local people staged a demonstration in the villages against various criminal activities going on in the locality. Despite of repeated pleas, police failed to curb the anti-social activities in the area, they alleged.

The local villagers put up demonstration in front of the police when they reached the spot to recover the body. The police pacified the mob and assured that they would crack down the criminal dens and were taking measures to check anti-social activities in the locality.

The investigating officers were keeping in touch with nearby police stations to know the identity of the victim. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report which will throw some light on the reason of his death.

Police are investigating into the matter and conducting raids to nab the local anti-socials who might provide important leads to the police.
