Youth carrying Rs 60 lakh cash detained

The city police on Thursday detained a 27-year-old man and recovered Rs 60 lakh from his possession at CSTS bus depot here. The accused, identified as Sk Yasin who is a resident of Birbhum, has been taken to Maidan police station for interrogation. 

Yasin had an altercation with bus conductor over payment for a ticket when he had boarded the vehicle to go to Birbhum.

A police team reached the spot when they came to know that a man had engaged in an altercation with the conductor. While searching his bag, the police team recovered huge amount of money. During interrogation, Yasin said he was carrying the money of several traders to Birbhum from Kolkata. Police were, however, not satisfied with his reply and contacted the officials of the Income Tax department, who took away the youth. 

A police officer said it seemed that the youth worked as a carrier of money from the city to district. He had been doing the work since long time.
