Youth arrested for trying to kill friend to whom he owned money

A 22-year-old youth has been arrested in connection with an attempt to murder case from Rajouri Garden area, police said on Saturday. The accused identified as Nikhil, along with his associates had opened fire at his friend, Supreet Singh after the latter demanded money that was owed to him.

The incident came to light on December 7 when a PCR call was received that an unidentified person had fired at a boy near Vikrant Enclave. The police reached Deen Dayal Upadhaya (DDU) hospital where the victim was being treated.

“When the complainant’s statement was recorded he informed us that the accused, Nikhil was his friend and had a gambling habit. Nikhil had been taking money from Supreet to fuel his addiction and had taken Rs 5,000 from him for a card game,” said a senior police official.

However, the accused was confronted by Supreet who demanded the money that he lent him. Nikhil then invited Supreet over to his house in Vikrant Enclave. When Supreet started to inquire about the money, a Santro car intercepted him and two men came out from the vehicle and started assaulting him. When Supreet tried to flee one of the men opened fire at him.
