Young rockers, out to conquer

Musically United and ready to rock, Rahib gets candid with Millennium Post. Here are excerpts...

Why the name R.A.H.I.B.?

Every initial of the word ‘R.A.H.I.B.’ denotes the different names of our country. R- REWA (First name of India), A- ARYAVARTA (Sanskrit name of India), H- HINDUSTAN, I- INDIA, B- BHARAT.

Our effort is to unite our nation with our music. Hence, we are ‘Musically United’.

Bands go through a lot during the formative years. What has been the most hardest time for your band?

It has been eight months since we formed this band. There was a time when we were struggling to buy good gears to be able to perform live on stage. After putting in a lot of hard work, we finally managed to buy a satisfactory gear for our guitars (processor). But after few days, the gear got misplaced in an auto rickshaw.

We felt miserable because without a guitar processor we could not play anywhere. The band was on complete pause for around 1 and a half months. That probably was the hardest time for us.

Tell us about your band’s line-up?

We are four members playing various roles in the band. Sam, the lead vocalist/guitars, Rapper  G-R-V on keyboard, Rishab on bass guitars and Mayank on drums/backing vocals.

What makes your band unique?

First, the genre that we play – Alternative rap rock. Rap culture is fast gaining momentum in India. People are increasingly becoming aware of the art. You’ll find an element of rap in most of our compositions, it pumps up the song and makes it more peppy.

The lyrics and the concept of our songs also make our compositions strong. Second, is brotherhood.

We all are not just four people jamming for hours in the studio, we spend the best time whenever we are together. The bond between us is ultimate.

Where all have you performed till now?

We have performed at many places across the country. In leading clubs like the Hard Rock Cafe, Blue Frog, Game of Legends and Cafe Morisson, to name a few. During national level college fests, private parties and a reality show called India’s Got Talent.

What are your future plans?

Currently, we are a part of a competition called ‘Hard Rock Rising 13’ which is a global battle between the world’s top rock bands.

The event is organised by the Hard Rock Cafe. We are among the finalists and will be competing on 28 March along with two more bands for the finals.

If we win the competition, we will get to represent India in the finals in London. So, our first target is London after which we are planning to tie up with a good label and release our first album.

If you are given the chance to give one piece of advice to the young and new rock bands from India, what would it be?

Life is all about learning everyday. For all the young artists and bands in India, we advice that work hard, have faith in your work, be patient, respect other artists and learn as much as you can.

No one can stop you, if you follow these things.
