Yemeni president to withdraw resignation

Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi has decided to withdraw his resignation, an official said on Sunday.

Hadi made the decision to withdraw his resignation due to international efforts led by United Nations envoy Jamal Bin Omar, as well as representatives of the political parties in the country, Xinhua quoted a presidential advisor as saying.

Hadi has six advisors who are among the country’s decision-making body, including one from the Shia Houthi group.

However, a government spokesperson said there was no official announcement about Hadi’s decision.

Domestic and international efforts are still underway to convince the president to withdraw his resignation, the spokesperson said.

Hadi on Thursday submitted his resignation to parliament amid a standoff with the Shia Houthi group who control the capital. Yemeni Prime Minister Khaled Bahah and his cabinet also gave their resignations to the president on the same day.
