It was the final plea against the execution of Yakub Memon for his role in the 1993 blasts case. After about 90 minutes, the judges rejected Memon’s appeal and he was hanged at Nagpur jail minutes before 7 am.

When the hearing was going on, few activists and a group of lawyers moved outside the home of Chief Justice of India H L <g data-gr-id="35">Duttu</g> to the residence of Supreme Court judge Deepak Misra at Tughlak Road.  “When news about the sudden hearing of Memon <g data-gr-id="44">came,</g> since then security arrangements have been enhanced. As the night staff of Delhi Police are comparatively less, so the concerned officials of the district were alerted and instructed to increase the police force,” a senior police official said.
