Israeli woman arrested in US for supporting IS

Washington: An Israeli woman was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the US state of Wisconsin on charges of supporting the Islamic State (IS) terror group through her activities on social media, the Department of Justice reported.

Waheba Issa Dais, 45, appeared before a judge on Wednesday who charged her with the crimes, Efe news reported. If found guilty she could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000, reports Efe news.

According to the department, Dais "used one of her pro-ISIS accounts to encourage an individual, whom she believed to be an IS supporter, to conduct an attack in the name of IS".

"She provided detailed instructions on how to make Ricin (a poison found in castor beans) and then suggested the individual introduce the Ricin to a government post or water reservoirs," added the statement.

In another post, she suggested potential targets for bombing attacks, including street festivals and celebrations in the summer.

The Israeli citizen, who is also a US legal permanent resident residing in Wisconsin, "attempted to provide services, personnel, expert advice and assistance to I, by promoting IS' agenda, facilitating recruitment and maintaining a virtual library of instructions on how to make bombs, biological weapons, poisons and suicide vests to assist self-proclaimed ISIS members and supporters in their attack planning".
