Woman’s body found in hotel

A 25-year-old woman was found dead inside a hotel room in central Delhi’s Paharganj on Tuesday afternoon. Police said the woman had come with a man to stay at Karan Palace in Paharganj on Monday.
According to police, the couple was staying in room number 207. ‘They had booked the room claiming they were married and had come from Lucknow. The booking was done in the name of Rashid and Shazia,’ a hotel staffer, requesting anonymity, said.
Rashid left the hotel on Tuesday morning and informed the receptionist that his wife was inside. ‘At 1.30 pm, a hotel staffer went inside for cleaning and found the woman lying on bed. We immediately informed the police,’ he added.
Initial investigation revealed that the woman was strangulated to death and there were injury marks on her face. It is not clear whether the couple was really married or not. ‘We have found that they were residents of Maujpur and not Lucknow. We have called the family members for questioning and the accused will be arrested soon,’ a senior police officer said.
Police have also scanned the CCTV footages of the hotel and identified the man accompanying the woman.
