Woman thrashed by ex-lover inside his cab

A 25-year-old woman was beaten up by a youth inside his Uber car, with whom she had an affair earlier near Manicktala on Thursday morning. The woman lodged a complaint on Friday afternoon with Howrah Women Police station.

Police said that the woman, who is a resident of Liluah in Howrah, was in Manicktala ESI Hospital since Wednesday night as the mother of one of her friends was admitted there. She met the youth with whom she had an affair.

The victim came in touch with the youth through a social networking site and got engaged into an affair. But the woman later came to know that he was married and decided not to continue the affair.

The youth, Sourav Ghosh, owns an Uber car and he was then driving the vehicle.

After repeated requests the woman got into the car. They then engaged into an altercation and the youth started beating her up. She couldn’t come out of the vehicles as all the doors were centrally locked.

Local people, however, understood that something was going wrong inside the car and came forward to help the woman. The youth allowed the woman to get down from the car when two persons started knocking on the windowpane of the car and fled the area.

The woman took a taxi and went to the city police’s headquarters at Lalbazar from where she was asked to lodge a complaint with the police station.

When she went to Liluah police station, the concerned officers directed her to go to the police station where the incident took place. 

Being confused she took help of her office colleague and lodged a complaint with Howrah Women Police on Friday afternoon.
