Woman power and art

Art has decided to take a new leap and head straight in to the world of women empowerment. Aptly called Empowerment, which is a non profit organisation, presents Feminine Mystique - all all woman art exhibition to be held in a city mall from 5 March.

Celebrating Woman's Day, calender marked for 8 March, Feminine Mystique is a celebration of the quintessential woman. The paintings portray the essence of a woman in myriad avatars, in her entirety, her soul, her song, her sensuality, her shakti as also her roop. The journey for the artist is a journey to the core of herself and a cathartic experience as well. A feeling, an expression that goes beyond the words but overflows into each canvas in a unique signature style is the mark of this exhibition. While women artists address global issues, there is a reflection and insight into something more personal. In an Indian society, which has a sensitive but powerful history of gender inequality, women voice their thoughts in various way; one of the most expressive and visual approaches being art.

The participating artists are - Bharti Verma, Gunjan Narain, Him Rajni, Meenakshi Dhiman, Artist Geetha, Sangeeta Murthy, Shweta Zharotia, Simret Jandu, Sonika Agarwal, Sunayana Malhotra, Shuchi Khanna and Maitreyi Kar and the exhibition is curated by Kumar Vikas Saxena. Head over this weekend and have a look.
