Woman polio worker, policeman shot dead in Pak

A woman polio worker and a policeman were killed and two others injured on Tuesday in Pakistan when unknown gunmen opened fire at them in the volatile northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The gunmen attacked the polio team while they were administering oral polio vaccine to the children at an Afghan refugee camp in Mansehra district, policeman Ijaz Khan said.
A female polio worker and a policeman guarding the polio team were killed and two others, including a woman volunteer and policeman, were injured in the attack.
Police and security forces has cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in the Sheikhabad area.
No one took responsibility for the attack yet but the Pakistani Taliban often attacks health workers and their armed escorts to discourage them from polio vaccinations. Pakistan is one of only three countries where the crippling disease remains endemic.
