Woman, minor die after coming under train wheels
A 61-year-old woman and an eight-year-old girl died while a six-year-old girl was grievously injured when they were trying to board the train at the crossing near the Delhi Cantt railway station on Thursday, police said. The woman has been identified as Vimala while the eight-year-old is Poonam. The injured child is Sia.
According to the police, they got a call at around 1 pm that a woman and a child are lying dead near the flyover.
Police said that the three were going to Bhandari in Rajasthan and had missed their train at the Delhi Cantonment station. So, they went ahead near the crossing but came under the wheels of the train. The three were headed to their native place where Vimala’s husband is undergoing treatment.
All of them were then rushed to the nearby Subzi Mandi hospital where Vimala and Poonam succumbed to their injuries.
Meanwhile, Sia, the six-year-old child is recuperating at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital. Police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the IPC.
