Woman lynched by errant motorists

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in an under-construction building at Entally on Wednesday night.

The victim’s family members lodged a complaint with the police in this connection on Thursday evening. Police said that the victim’s family members told them that the victim went to a fair ground with another girl on Wednesday evening.

But she didn’t return Wednesday night leading to tension for her family members. She had somehow managed to come back home early Thursday morning and told her parents that she was sexually assaulted by two youth in an under-construction building. They had tied her hands. 

As a result she couldn’t escape.

On Thursday morning they let her go after threatening her with dire consequences if she revealed it to anyone.

She was in a traumatised state when she returned home and later revealed the incident to her parents. Police took her to <g data-gr-id="43">hospital</g> for medical tests and initiated a search for the accused against who her family members lodged the complaint.

In another incident at Siliguri, the body of a tribal woman was found in a jungle. Police suspect that she was raped and murdered. There were slit marks on her throat. The body has been sent for an autopsy. The police are yet to arrest anyone in this connection.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman used to go to take lessons on stitching. She used to leave home in morning and return in <g data-gr-id="40">evening</g>. Her family members had moved to the police when she didn’t return home till late night on Wednesday.

Police found her body in the bushes on Thursday morning. Police interrogated some youth in this connection and some friends of the victim. But they failed to provide any clue whether she had <g data-gr-id="35">rivalry</g> with anyone. Her parents also claimed that she was a simple girl.
