Woman looted, molested in Sonarpur; no arrests yet

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly molested and looted by some unidentified persons late Saturday night in South 24 Parganas’ Sonarpur.

No arrests have been made so far in this connection.

The victim filed a complaint with local police station according to which three persons on two motorcycles allegedly tied her with her dupatta before taking her to a Hospital staff quarters.

They then molested her and escaped after looting Rs 3,000 from her.

“We are in possession of the mobile number of one of the accused and are trying to track down their whereabouts with the help of the mobile number. A case of kidnapping and molestation and loot has been filed.” police said.

However, the woman was badly injured and received injuries in several places in her body.”We have acquired CCTV footage of the incident and started investigation. Those miscreants might try to rape her, but when they saw some locals were coming to that place, they beat her up and took away the money from her,” said a police officer.

The woman has given information to the investigators and portrait parle was done.

“We have come to know that those miscreants snatched the bag, gold chain from different people in the same day. The woman was their last victim. They might have gone to North 24 Parganas” Rajarhat area, a police officer said.
