Woman killed in South Dinajpur, robbery suspected

Mystery shrouds over the death of a 40-year-old woman, whose body was found in a paddy field at Vaidhai village near at Chakulia in South Dinajpur early on Thursday morning.

Police said the victim Parul Nisha was a housewife and she was missing since Wednesday evening.

Preliminary investigation revealed that she went out of her house on Wednesday evening to visit a relative’s house in the adjacent village. She was kidnapped while returning from the relative’s house and was killed. Police are yet to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder but police suspecting robbery in this case.

Her family members told the police that she had some money with her. She was bringing the money from the relative’s house as she had to give it to someone.

The miscreants had the information and followed her when she went to the relative’s house. They kidnapped her when she was passing through a deserted area while returning and killed her after taking away the money and jewellery. Later they dumped the body in the paddy field. Her family members initiated a search when she didn’t return till late night. 

They lodged a complaint with the police. Police too started the search but failed to find her.   On Thursday morning some villagers found her body in the paddy field and informed the police. Her family members identified the body, which was sent for an autopsy. Police later picked up a suspect, Yusuf Ali. He is being interrogated.
