Woman jumps in front of Metro train, kills self

A 42-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping in front of a Metro train at Janakpuri East Metro station in west Delhi around3.40 pm on Sunday, the police said.

The woman left a 7-page suicide note in which she mentioned that she was suffering from severe depression. She did not blame anybody for the extreme step, said a police officer. The Metro services were affected for some time after the incident.

The woman was a resident of west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar. A Metro official said the woman was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.

She was reportedly depressed as she could not conceive, despite being married for the past 12
years.

A police officer said such claims were to be verified. Earlier on Thursday, two people committed suicide by jumping on the Metro tracks in separate incidents.

The first incident took place at Pul Metro station, which is on the Red Line in north Delhi.
