A woman (40) was injured on Monday, while foiling a robbery in her house in Ghaziabad, the police said.
The incident occurred in the morning in Raj Nagar, when robbers barged into the house of a doctor. One of the robbers shot at Anita Singh, the doctor’s wife, when she woke up but fled after she tried to overpower him. The bullet passed through her fingers, police said. “We will nab the robbers soon. We have recovered the iron rods, knives and other weapons, which they used to break doors and windows,” said Avneesh Gautam, SHO, Kavi Nagar police station.
The police said that the robbers scaled the boundary wall of the house, cut the grills of the living room door and barged into the bedroom. The doctor, DP Singh, who retired last year and now practices in Ghaziabad, was in the house when the incident took place. He later said: “Three people entered the house. One was in the bedroom, while two were moving in the living room. Sensing danger, my dog started barking at them. We called the police and took my wife to Columbia Asia hospital,” he said.
