Woman held for setting paramour ablaze

The Delhi Police arrested a 30-year-old woman who had set a 53-year-old man on fire who succumbed to his burn injuries in South-east Delhi’s Sunlight Colony, police said on Thursday.

On Tuesday at about 2.30 pm, a call was received at the police post of Sarai Kale Khan  following which the police team reached the spot and got to know that the two persons including one male and one female have been taken to Safdarjung Hospital in a PCR van. The police then reached the hospital where Gajanand (53) was admitted in the hospital with 100 per cent burn injuries who later succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. However, Rinku, who received burn injuries, whose MLC was also prepared had escaped from the hospital on the pretext of taking medicines before reaching the local police.

During interrogation she disclosed that she came in contact with Gajanand about five years ago while visiting Gauri Shankar Mandir in Chandni Chowk who used to sell worship articles outside the temple. Soon they started meeting. Thereafter, illicit relations developed between them and Gajanand started spending his earnings to Rinku. After some time, Gajanand started pressurising her for marrying him and Rinku started demanding money from him taking advantage of his feelings.
