Woman heckled by Ola driver

In another incident of alleged harassment by the drivers of app-based cars, a 35-year-old fashion designer was allegedly heckled by a driver of an Ola cab when she had protested against rash driving.

Police said that the woman is a resident of CIT Road. The incident took place when she was going back to her residence from Darga Road. She alleged that an Ola cab had hit her car from behind near bridge number 4 at Park Circus. According to her allegation, the cab was in a high speed and hit her car as the driver failed to control it.She raised her voice again such reckless driving.

Suddenly, the driver of the Ola cab came near her car and forced her to come out of the vehicle.
He allegedly passed lewd comments at the woman and pushed her repeatedly. She received minor injuries. Local people, however, intervened and settled the matter.

They asked the woman to leave the place and to move ahead. The victim left the place and reached her home on CIT Road. But, she had seen the driver following her up to her house and threatened her with dire consequences.

The driver had, however, left the place finding neighbours coming out of their houses.

The woman later went to Entally police station and lodged a complaint with the place. The case was later transferred to Beniapukur police station as the spot where the incident had taken place is under the jurisdiction of Beniapukur police station.

The police had initiated a search for the accused but yet to arrest anyone in this connection. It is learnt that Ola cab authorities had apologised the woman for such an incident. It may be mentioned that the state transport department has set a deadline to the operators of app based cars by when they have to install surveillance cameras in the vehicles and panic button as well.

With the installation of the same such incidents will happen no more, said a police officer.
