Woman found dead at crossing of Park street, Ripon street

A day after the body of a woman was recovered from the Park Street and Ripon Street crossing, police are yet to arrest anybody in this connection.

As per the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the woman whose identity is yet to ascertained had been murdered inside a nearby house where her body was found on early Saturday morning.

Police are trying to identify the woman after examining tattoos that were inscribed on her arms. They have interrogated two sex workers to ascertain the identity of the victim. 

Police said that the woman had two tattoos inscribed on her both hands, one of which had the word ‘Reema’ written while the other hand was carrying the name of one ‘Samir’. After examining the statements of the sex workers, police were trying to nab the culprits.

Police were also examining the CCTV footages of the area, but failed to get any substantial evidence as the footage unclear. Police also came to know that two vehicles were travelling in the area. The investigating officers are looking into whether the accused had used the vehicles for dumping the body in the area.

The body of the woman was found at Park Street and Ripon Street crossing on early Saturday morning triggering tension in the locality. Police said that the woman was aged between 23 and 26.

According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the victim was throttled to death as there were injury marks around her neck and some other parts of her body.

Police are investigating whether the woman had been subjected to physical assault as well. They suspect that the woman might have been murdered at some other place and later her body had been dumped at the Park Street and Ripon Street crossing.

The primary investigation suggests that the body was dumped in that area at anytime between 4 and 5.30 am. The local people spotted the dead body early in the morning and it had been covered with a blanket.
