Woman forced to strip, thrashed for opposing kangaroo court

The accused anti-socials, after assaulting the woman, escaped the area. Police are conducted raids to arrest them at the earliest.

Manila Das (name changed), the victim, reportedly protested against the kangaroo court being held in her own courtyard, reportedly for solving a land dispute.

Moreover, she refused to abide by the decision that the kangaroo court had given against her.

The miscreants then brandishing a gun at her, and forced her to strip. The goons then went on to molest and beaten up the woman.

Before they fled the area, the anti-socials fired blank shots twice or thrice.

The woman fell unconscious after the incident and was taken to Kalna Sub Divisional Hospital.

“We talked to the woman when she was in a better condition. We took the full report from her and
noted down the names of the people present at the kangaroo court. She lodged an FIR against 20 persons,” said a police officer.

Meanwhile, police raided several local residences and detained five to six persons.

“We are currently interrogating those people. They were reportedly present there at the time of the
incident,” said the officer. Police will also initiate an investigation on the basis of a report.
