Woman ends life in Faridabad, family alleges dowry death

A 26-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide, while her parents accused her in-laws and husband of killing her for dowry here, police said on Saturday.

Rajbir, a resident of Gautambuddh Nagar, filed a police complaint alleging that his daughter was killed by her in-laws and husband for dowry on Thursday.

According to the complainant, the deceased got married to Naresh, resident of Nangla Enclave Part II, in 2010, following which he and his parents frequently harassed for dowry.

The victim’s family alleged that she was even forced to return to her parents’ house. However, on July 14 her mother-in-law, Bimla Devi, and her brother-in-law, Deepak, asked her to come back, assuring that there would be no problems in future.

The victim’s father said that on Thursday, she was strangled to death by her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Omprakash. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
