Woman dies during sterilisation operation

“On the direction of District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar, the inquiry team has been formed,” Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr B S Yadav said.
Poonam (30), resident of Aligarh, yesterday died of cardiac arrest when she had gone for a tubectomy surgery at the district hospital here.
Her family members alleged that she died due to negligence of the hospital’s administration during the operation and protested in the hospital premises.
“She suffered severe heart attack prior to intravenous sedation. She was immediately given oxygen as well as artificial respiration followed by cardiac supplement and cardiac massage, however, she could not survive,” medical superintendent Dr BD Bhaskar said.
