Woman, daughter found murdered

A woman and her 10-year-old daughter were brutally killed at Murshidabad’s Sheiskpara area on Wednesday morning. Police recovered the bodies inside their residence and sent it for autopsy. A murder case has been initiated.

Arifa Biwi (30) and her daughter Ria were hacked to death as cops found their body lying in a pool of blood. After the primary investigation, Police has suspected a local youth, fiancé of Arifa, could be the killer of mother and daughter.

“Mizanur Sheikh, the accused youth, who had an affair with Arifa may be the prime accused here. He is presently absconding.” said an investigating officer. A dagger which was used in the murder has been recovered. Police is taking the help of fingerprint experts; a portrait parley has been made of the accused.

Arifa’s husband Firoj Sheikh works in Kerala. Arifa stayed alone in the house with her daughter. The accused youth came early in the morning and knocked on the door, asking for Arifa. Arifa opened the door as the voice was known to her. The youth then pushed her inside the room and hacked her.
“Some neighbours had spotted Mizanur coming out from Arifa’s residence in the morning, which has strengthened the circumstantial evidences of this murder case,” the investigating officer added.
