Woman battling for life after husband sprays acid on her

In yet another incident of acid attack, a woman received severe injuries in her face and is battling for life in hospital. 

Police said that the victim’s husband attacked her with acid following a quarrel between the couple.

The incident that occurred at Dhantala area triggered tension among the local residents. The woman’s face and hands were burnt in the incident.

The victim, a resident of Bankimnagar Colony area, got married to the accused, a resident of Taherpur area, around five years ago. After her marriage, the husband started coming home drunk at night and there were frequent quarrels between the couple.

Not able to bear the abuses, the woman decided to return to her parental house three years ago.

A few months ago, her husband went to the woman’s house and convinced her that he would not drink any more.

This prompted the victim to return to her in-laws house. But he did not keep his promise and again 
started drinking and abusing his wife. 

On Sunday night, the accused beat up the victim and later hurled acid on her. After hearing the screaming of the victim, local people rushed to the house saw the woman wreathing in pain and lying on the ground with her face half burnt.

The accused had fled from the spot after the incident. After being informed, police reached the spot and took the victim to hospital.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim’s family members, the police started a probe. They are conducting raids in the nearby areas to nab the culprit.
