Winning medals is not everything in life: Big B

Lauding the hardwork of the Indian athletes, megastar Amitabh Bachchan came out in their support, saying winning medals is not everything. Rio Olympic 2016 is nearing its end but India still awaits a tick on its medal tally.

“They (athletes) need support of the whole country. It’s not an easy task to go up there and perform the way they are doing. I really applaud the fact that they are able to bring the name of the country on an international platform, that’s most credible. It’s a tough job and it’s difficult to be there,” he said.

According to Big B the fact that the athletes are representing India on an international platform is a huge thing.

“It’s extremely laudable that we had to so much talent there representing the country. It’s another matter that they are not able to bring in medals. But medals are not everything in life,” he said.
“This experience and exposure will help them and I am pretty certain that in the next Olympics in 2020 we will do much better,” he added.

Bachchan who will be seen in Aankhe 2 directed by Anees Bazmee, says he is excited to work with Bazmee and credits his “good fortune” for getting to work with him for the “very first time”.

“Anees Bazmee will be directing the film (Aankhen 2). I have heard a lot about him. And this is my good fortune that I get to work with him for the first time. So I am very excited,” Amitabh said.

Talking about the film, Big B, who essayed Vijay Singh Rajput in the 2002 heist thriller drama film, said: “Aankhe 2 will start from where the first part ended. The story is brand new with new wonderful and talented artistes”. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, and Ileana D’cruz.

Amitabh Bachchan who will be seen playing a lawyer in Shoojit Sarkar’s upcoming film Pink said the film is not about rape but the situations that exist today. “I think that the film talks about the current situation especially, for the younger generation.

The crime thriller stars Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Taring in lead roles and is scheduled to release on September 16.
