Winning combination

Team India looks is on a stupendous run of form. With seven wins on the trot, the team looks all set for the T-20 World Cup. Team India’s recent win at the recently concluded Asia Cup has given fans immense hope. The top order looks in good nick. Rohit Sharma has carried his good form through the year, while his partner at the top of the batting order, Shikhar Dhawan, has shown flashes of brilliance. After a run of poor form, India’s star batsman Virat Kohli at number three is back to his devastating best. The middle order too looks stable with MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina more than capable of finishing matches. But it is heartening to witness the emergence of a genuine fast bowling all rounder in Hardik Pandya. However, Yuvraj Singh stands as the surprise package. The T-20 veteran took his time to get back in good nick after his return to the side. The southpaw excelled during the Asia Cup, especially in the matches against Sri Lanka and UAE. Although the bowling looks stable, there is some work that needs to be done, even though the likes of speedster Jasprit Bumrah has shown remarkable consistency. Team India director, Ravi Shashtri, indicated as much. Meanwhile, the bench looks ready to handle any sort of injury that may strike the first team during the course of the tournament.

After a poor run of form, Captain MS Dhoni looks back to his best after he struck the winning runs in the Asia Cup final. “I believe, in India, everyone has an opinion on issues and especially on cricket,” Dhoni said to the media. “There is freedom of expression and everyone is entitled to an opinion. Play like this, play like that, do like this, do like that. The problem is cricket looks a bit easier on television than when we play it on the ground.” Suffice to say, he did not stop there. “Well, there will be a lot of criticism,” he said. “If anyone asks me that what would you have liked to do, I would have said: Playing cricket for India will be my first choice. I will never play for any other country.” The swagger is definitely back. One hopes that he carries it into the World Cup. After their victory against Australia, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, Team India is definitely moving into the tournament as firm favourites.
