Will result in utter chaos: Mamata

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his “hasty” decision to ban Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes from Monday midnight. She said that the decision was arbitrary and created panic in the entire country.

She also demanded the President to intervene and quash the decision that landed the people in a difficult situation.

“I have always fought against black money and corruption. But this is intolerable. The decision of the prime minister is arbitrary and will affect common people,” she said after comparing him with Muhammad Bin Tughlaq.

“This is financial emergency and will affect the common people. Ordinary people are confused and they do not know what to do. There is surgical strike on the one hand while there is such financial emergency on the other hand. It led to panic in the entire country,” she said.
