Why have IPL matches in parched Rajasthan, HC asks

The Rajasthan High Court on Thursday asked the state government why IPL 2016 matches should be held in the state where the water situation is worse than that of Maharashtra’s, from where several matches have been moved after a Bombay High Court order. In addition to the state government, the court also issued notices, seeking a reply to its question, to the Rajasthan Cricket Association and the state’s Public Health Engineering Department.

The Bombay High Court last week asked the BCCI to move all the IPL matches to be held in Maharashtra after April 30 to other venues. The Mumbai Indians team opted for Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Stadium as its home ground. The other Maharashtra franchise, Pune Supergiants, opted for Visakhapatnam.
