When Ajay Devgn brought 80s back

Ajay Devgn is in rewind mode. The Singham star is busy shooting for the Himmatwala remake. He did a Jumping Jack, a la Jeetendra, recently when he put on his dancing shoes to recreate the popular number Tathaiya Tathaiya from the 80s.

Director Sajid Khan and Devgn left no stone unturned to recreate the aura of the original song which featured Jeetendra and Sridevi.

Devgn, who is now quite comfortable with dancing was seen enjoying the shooting. ‘It is one of the most popular numbers from the 80s. Right from the sets to the costumes and the choreography, everything has been perfectly recreated,’ said Devgn.

What about comparisons with the original? ‘I want people to make comparisons because I have done justice to the original. Of course, it will be unfair to compare Ajay to Jeetendra especially since Jeetendra’s image as a dancer was strong at that time,’ said Sajid.

The song sequence has been choreographed by Farah Khan. ‘I was not sure whether Ajay would be able to match Jeetendra’s steps, but the entire unit broke into applause after he gave his first take,’ she said.
