West encouraging Xinjiang ‘terrorism’: Chinese media

US is encouraging ‘terrorism’ in Xinjiang, the state media said, also claiming separatists in the region, which has a large Uighur minority, had fought alongside Syrian rebels.

Uighurs rights groups blame the unrest on economic inequality and religious repression.The People’s Daily, a mouthpiece for the ruling party, slammed US government and media for what it said was its role in the violence. The US was ‘conspiring to direct the calamity of terrorist activities toward China,’ it said.
