We need improvement in middle over batting: Miller

Kings XI Punjab tasted their first win of the IPL-9 season in their third match against Rising Pune Supergiants here on Sunday but captain David Miller said that his side needs improvement in middle-over batting if they want to go the distance in the T20 tournament.

“It all clicked tonight. We got a good start from the openers and before that the bowlers did really well. (Murali) Vijay and (Manan) Vohra have done really well in the past too and credit to them, and Maxi (Glenn Maxwell) did a great job in the end,” Miller said after his side’s six-wicket win at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium. “Our batting in the middle overs, we still need to think about that and work on it a bit if we have to do well in future matches,” he added.

Man of the Match Manan Vohra, who hit a 33-ball 51, said he was happy to have contributed to his side’s win. “I was batting well in earlier matches also but a big knock was missing. I am happy to get a half century on Sunday but at the same time not happy to get out at a poor shot. Had I batted a little bit longer and make 70-80, our win would have been even much easier,” he said.

“I’ve been playing with Murali bhai since last year now so we have a good tuning. We have the understanding,” Vohra said of his senior opening partner Murali Vijay.
