‘We aim to expand our LED lighting business’

Tell us about Eon’s various business segments and its contribution to the business respectively?
EON Electric Ltd. is a well established manufacturer of electrical products incorporated in the year 1958. Started with the manufacturing of variety of electrical switchgear, over a period of time it progressed and added more sophisticated products including MCBs in JV with Heinrich Kopp of Germany, RCDs in technical collaboration with M/s. Doepke & Co., Germany.
To continue manufacturing new and state-of-the-art technology products, EON (earlier known as Indo Asian) hived off its manufacturing facilities for Switchgear and expanded and added manufacturing of CFLs at Noida and put up a large plant for Wires and Cables at SIDCUL, Haridwar.
What are your expansion plans? Our major businesses now i.e. wires, cables, lithium ion batteries for mobile phones and indoor and outdoor LED lights contribute nearly one-third each of the current total business. With the new expansion plans in place, we have a vision to expand our LED lighting business substantially. LED lighting business in India is expected to grow by 40 per cent annually by the end of 2014. EON lighting business is also growing substantially and this lighting business and the lithium ion batteries will be major contributors to EON's business in the next two-three years.
Can you elaborate EON’s endeavours in R&D space? Many of EON's lights are manufactured in accordance with BIS specifications and we believe that EON will keep its pace ahead of the market by expanding its manufacturing facilities and adding new products being developed on the basis of EON's continuous R&D efforts.
