Was unaware of Maria-Lalit meeting: Chavan

Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria on Monday landed in a fresh controversy after former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan claimed that neither him nor the state minister of home in his Cabinet <g data-gr-id="18">Satej</g> D Patil were  not <g data-gr-id="26">aware about</g> the flamboyant cop's meeting with former IPL chairman Lalit Modi. Speaking to  Millennium Post, Chavan said, “I was not aware of his (Maria) visit to London and his meeting with Modi.  As per <g data-gr-id="24">protocol</g> the state minister of <g data-gr-id="23">home</g> should have been kept in the loop by him. But I know even he was not <g data-gr-id="21">aware about</g> his meeting with Modi.” When asked that he might have overlooked Maria’s report on his meeting with Modi in London, Chavan, who is in Delhi, said, “Such trips are cleared at the level of Home Minister.” Again I am saying that we were both in the dark.”
