Wanted criminal arrested

A 24-year-old man, associated with the notorious Neeraj Bawana and Vikas Langarpuria gangs, has been arrested by Delhi Police Special Cell for allegedly demanding an extortion of Rs 50 lakh from the son of Narela MLA.

‘Suresh alias Kala, a resident of village Barana in Panipat, was wanted in murder and attempt to murder cases by Haryana Police who had also announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for his arrest. He was arrested last night from village Humayunpur near Safdarjung Enclave on specific inputs,’ S N Srivastava, Special CP, Special Cell said.

A sophisticated pistol of 7.65 mm bore along with two magazines and seven live cartridges was recovered from him.

During interrogation, he confessed that he along with four others - Neeraj Bawana, Narendra, Rajesh and Parvesh, all resident of Samalkha of Panipat - had demanded Rs 50 lakh from the son of sitting Congress MLA from Narela, Jaswant Rana in May last year.

He had confessed that he along with Khali, Balinder, Balmiki and Mangal had also demeaned Rs five crore as ‘protection money’ from a reputed real estate agent at Rohini.

In July last year, he along with an interstate criminal Vikas Lagarpuria, went to to threaten one Ravinder for extorting money to the tune of Rs 50 lakh.

Recently on January 2, the accused and his accomplices Ankur and some others again went to his village to make another attempt to kill their old rival sarpanch Shiv Kumar Tyagi. In this police personnel along with a passerby were grievously injured.
