VK Singh joins BJP

VK Singh joins BJP
The speculation over his association with the party came after he met Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at his official residence in Bhopal few days ago. At that time he had termed the meeting a ‘courtesy visit’, but now after his official association with the party, many feel he might contest the Lok Sabha election.

Singh invited controversy over his age issue and had a bitter war with the union government after claiming it was a conspiracy against him to malign his image. Interestingly, in October last year, he had ruled out joining the BJP, saying he will continue to fight for the cause of Anna Hazare against corruption in India.

He was the first serving military chief to drag the government to court claiming he was born in 1951, and not 1950. However, documents with the Army reflected both dates. In his petition in the Supreme Court, he had asked why his claim that he was born in 1951 and not 1950 had been rejected by the ministry of defence.
